SRK's wax figure unveiled at Madame Tussauds museum in Hollywood

New Delhi, Jan 30 : The accolades and honours keep pouring in for this 'Baadshah' of Bollywood even two decades after he made his debut with 'Deewana'.

In a latest achievement for Shahrukh Khan and a reiteration of his status as one of the ''most loved'' Bollywood stars on the International scene, the megastar's lifelike wax figure was unveiled at renowned Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in Hollywood (USA) last night, trade sources said.
The unveiling of Shahrukh's wax statue at the museum makes him the first Bollywood star to be inducted into this museum, which boasts of wax figures of celebrities like Audrey Hepburn, Clark Gable, Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Kidman, Johnny Depp, Alfred Hitchcock, Steven Spielberg, Beyonce Knowles, David Beckham and others.
It is notable that King Khan already has his wax statue at the Madame Tussauds in London, along with other Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai.
However, his wax statue here would be kept for a limited period, only till April 30, 2010.
While King Khan himself could not be present during the unveiling, the function was a grand event with an appearance by America's premier Indian dance company and recent America's Got Talent contender, Ishaara.
Terming Shahrukh's induction in the museum as ''a historic addition'', museum authorities said, ''it symbolizes a coming together of the world's two great film centres, Hollywood and Bollywood''.
Headquartered in London, Madame Tussauds have wax museums in New York, Hong Kong, Las Vegas, Shanghai, Amsterdam, Washington DC, Berlin, and Hollywood.
This Hollywood Boulevard located museum was opened in 2009, which marked 200th anniversary
ofMadame Tussauds.
Shahrukh's wax figure reportedly cost about 300,000 Dollars.
The unveiling of the wax statue of the superstar comes even as his ''My Name is Khan'' is set for release on February 12.
Welcoming coming closer of Hollywood-Bollywood with this induction, Indo-American statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) said the collaboration of world's two major film industries on various aspects was a step in the right direction.
''Cinema is a powerful medium and Hollywood-Bollywood engagement, if utilized positively, can bring East and West closer,'' Zed, who is chairperson of Indo-American Leadership Confederation, added.
